The Little Garden Organic Farm (TLG Organic Farm) is an organic farm located in Sheung Tsuen (the name of our village), it is a floodplain of Pat Heung, Yuen Long. Blessed by the highest mountain Tai Mo Shan in Hong Kong, our farm has unlimited clean water containing lots of natural minerals and nutrients flowing from the mountain through irrigation water pipes built by the colonial government. The large farmland surrounded TLG Farm was used to be paddy fields for century, growing a variety of local rice which were famous in the world market. Land development does affect the size of farmland here; however, with the neighbouring community’s enthusiasm for farming it is still a magical place in Hong Kong.
Built in May 2013, TLG Farm is a landscape space exercise as well as a planting experiment site for the owner, Cynthia Wong. Now, she turns it into a herbs and edible flower farm supplying organic tea leaves to consumers who appreciate high quality and freshly processed herbal tea leaves. The unique characteristic of TLG Farm comes from Cynthia’s effort to balance the production, biodiversity and aesthetics needs.

Cynthia's tea story
In the past three years, Cynthia Wong has been planting over 200 different varieties of plants as her garden design exercise. In 1st December 2016, Cynthia used one of the plants she discovered during the planting exercise to develop a local organic herbal tea brand -- Present ! Organic Tea. Described as "Heavenly fragrance, refreshing and fruity taste" by tea experts, the signature plant of this Hong Kong agricultural brand is called Mexican shrub marigold / Mt. Lemmon Marigold (Tagetes lemmonii).
The journey starts with her idea to develop a market of Edible Garden Design business in Hong Kong. She has done numerous researches on different edible plants and grown them whenever possible. She discovered that this marigold variety is quite common in Taiwan but not so in Hong Kong. During her visits to local farms and gardens, she found none of them grew this plant. No restaurant served any drink made from this plant. When she successfully grows marigold from seedlings, she found the aroma of the plant so strong with fruity taste and the flower blossom in bright orange color. She shared the happiness and the infusion method with her friends and family. While the seedlings were not organic, she decided that the marigold must be gone through at least two years’ organic transitional period if it would become a high-quality tea product.
After two years' experiments in growing, processing and infusion techniques, Cynthia proudly shares her happiness with the Hong Kongers. Marigold has the health benefits of detoxifying the liver and cleansing the blood. Many of our tea guests have given us feedbacks with delight, saying that the aroma is long-lasting in their mouths. TLG Farm strives for expanding its production capacity of marigold tea leaves and develops new taste with other locally grown herbs. We hope you would appreciate our dedication to producing a new kind of herbal tea product in Hong Kong. We'll continue our plant experiment exercises and re-invent local plants to become commercial products.
Last but not least, we sincerely thank all customers who appreciate our efforts and support local organic farming.
